* The Colloquium in Transnational Law will be a new addition to this semester’s courses.  In this 1 credit course, students examine current topics in international and transnational law through a combination of general readings, small-group discussion and participation in the Center for Law and Global Affairs Colloquium series. The class meets weekly with some speakers presenting talks at different times.

The class begins with a review of the principal ideas of international and transnational law. Students then attend the Colloquium speaker presentations and read and discuss the speakers’ scholarship. This provides students with an opportunity to engage with cutting-edge academic work on international and transnational legal issues. Each student will be responsible for writing three 5-page reaction papers discussing their responses to presentations from a diverse group of professors and practitioners focusing on international human rights, global governance, the promotion of the rule of law in developing countries, international business law and related issues.

Those who are unable to take the course are welcome to attend the speaker series.  (Not only are the talks really interesting, there's also really good food!)
